Delhi Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Center
What is Cardiac Rehabilitation?
Cardiac rehabilitation is a comprehensive program involving medical evaluation, prescribed aerobic exercise and resistance training, education and cardiac risk factor modification, under the guidance of a trained rehabilitation staff. The goal is to return the cardiac patient to full, anxiety-free function and to provide the educational tools necessary to prevent heart problems in the future.
Details of the Program
The typical cardiac rehabilitation program lasts 12 weeks and includes three sessions per week for a total of 36 sessions. All patients who exercise during this initial 12 weeks are placed on a heart monitor during exercise. All sessions are supervised by an ACLS certified team consisting of a physician medical director, registered nurse and an exercise physiologist. Sessions last approximately 60 minutes. Exercise sessions consist of both aerobic training and resistance training.
Who Is Eligible?
Most insurance, including Medicare, will cover cardiac rehabilitation for any patient who has had a heart attack within the last 12 months, or any patient who has had a coronary artery bypass graft in the past. Coverage is usually provided for patients with stable angina and most patients who have undergone angioplasty. In addition, many insurances provide coverage for other forms of heart disease. We will gladly contact your insurance carrier to determine your coverage.
How to Enroll?
All patients must have a physician referral for enrollment in the program. If you have any questions regarding the program, you may contact the Delhi Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation staff for additional information. If necessary, we will gladly contact your physician to see if you are eligible.
